Student and Community Groups

There are many ways for student groups, youth groups, and community groups to partner with Cradles to Crayons. Groups help us work toward our mission of providing each child with the essentials they need to thrive — to feel safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. We help students learn the importance of service and how they can play a role in supporting local children in need.

  • Student Group Expectations Guidelines
A youth group, as defined by Cradles to Crayons, is any volunteer group in which a majority of its participants are under the age of 18. This includes, but is not limited to, any school, church youth groups, day camps, or birthday parties. This does not include familes or corporate groups that may bring a small number of children.

Requirements for student groups

Due to our immense need for children’s items — in 2016*, Cradles to Crayons is looking to serve more than 60,000 disadvantaged children in this area — we require that all student groups engage in a collection project prior to their volunteer visit at the Giving Factory.

We ask that each of your students collect enough product to fill one kitchen size bag (13 gallon bag).
This way, each individual student’s donation will amount to exactly one child served. This is a rewarding way to engage in our mission and model from start to finish.
If you are bringing a group with kids under 18, we request that you please ensure that there is 1 adult present for every 5 students.
